The American black beauty doll Association’s adopt a doll store was started in 2018.

It was the wonderfully inspired idea of one of our members La Vera Wilson who saw that there was a need for so many of our dolls to find a forever home.

Lavera and member Stacy LaGras begin going through the many containers of donated dolls at the ABBDA doll studio. they began cleaning them up and scrubbing their little faces if need be. They found outfits or made clothes for them to make them look nice and pretty, because some of them didn’t have anything to wear! Once Lavera and Stacy had the dolls dressed in outfits that would fit them nicely, they would style their hair and make them available to be adopted. At our 2018 festival of black doll show and sale the adopt a doll table made its debut! It was a fabulous hit every single doll was adopted and found a loving forever home. We have many Beautiful dolls available in our adopt a doll store. There are baby dolls with chubby cheeks and beautiful brown skin. There are dolls dressed in bright colored outfits, international dolls from the Fiji Islands, Jamaica and Mexico.
